UK Greek Frontman Yannis Philippakis is a happy man after his group scooped best group award at the Brits, Speaking onstage at the ceremony, which was held at The O2 in London on Tuesday 18 February frontman Yannis Philippakis thanked: “”Everyone that loves our music and believes in us and comes to the shows. It means so much to us after how ever many years we’ve been doing it.”

Foals released two albums last year – Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost: Part 1, and Part 2. The band beat off competition from Coldplay, Bastille, Bring Me The Horizon and D-Block Europe to win the award

Yannis is born  to a Greek father and a South African-born Ukrainian Jewish[ mother (Renee Hirschon), Philippakis lived in Greece until he was 4 years old when his family moved to South Africa. After living there for a year, he moved to Oxford ,UK..

Philippakis was educated at Magdalen College School.  Philippakis then went on to study English Literature at St John’s College, Oxford; he dropped out before completing his degree to focus on the band
