Spartan South Midlands League – Division One

Shefford Town & Campton 1
St Panteleimon 8

(Saints scorers: Steve Dodds, Brad Gilmaney, Guilherme Monti, Ayub Albadri 4, Noyan Tajbakhsh)

The Saints were firing on all cylinders today, and the well oiled machine put in one of their performances of the season against a resilient Shefford Town & Campton side.

The home side presented the Saints with a framed shirt in honour of the late and dearly missed Thiago Gonçalves. A very classy gesture, and a moving start to the day.

The visitors had an extra zip in their step today and the ball was moving around quickly and crisply. The flanks were well served by Brad Gilmaney on the right and Tellis Nasai on the left, both showing skill, purpose, energy and precise passing.

It took twenty minutes for the breakthrough. A good through ball found Steve Dodds against the keeper and he cooly placed the ball for 0-1. The Saints were away and weren’t getting caught. Ten minutes later on the right wing, good close control by Gilmaney gave himself space to cut inside. He then curled a delightful shot past the keeper, and the ball went in off the post. A brilliant goal for 0-2. At half time the Saints re-energised and came out where they left off.

The second half saw 7 more goals in an energetic and good spirited match. Guilherme Monti made it 3 on 49 minutes, and then four goals from Ayub Albadri and one from Noyan Tajbakhsh made it 8 for St Panteleimon. The home side managed a consolation goal and the final score 1-8 gave the Saints another 3 points. They sit 6 points ahead in the league with a game in hand.
