Still reeling with the news of winning Dance School of the Year 2019 – North London at the Greater London Enterprise Awards, Live 4 Dancing received more great news to get excited about last week…the dance academy are finalists in the Anne Walker MBE Dance School of the Year 2019 award!

This annual award was founded in 2013 by Anne Walker MBE in order to celebrate the achievements of Theatre Dance Teachers everywhere. It is open to all dance teachers wherever they teach and is designed to encourage teachers to realise what amazing achievements they have made within their school during the last twelve months, in particular, and in many cases during many years of running their school.

Entries are judged by completely independent professionals who may not know anything at all about the school.

Speaking to Parikiaki, Live 4 Dancing’s Creative Director and Ballroom Dance Teacher, Greek Cypriot Maria Kyriacou said she was over the moon to learn that the academy are finalists of this prestigious award.

“I am so grateful to everyone who has supported me in this vision over the past three years. My parents, my amazing mentor, dance coaches, dance studio families and students, the list is endless. It’s been an amazing ride, with highs and lows, but huge courage and persistence.

“It is a massive honour to be shortlisted amongst some incredible schools, not just from the UK but Europe, Canada and Australia too. I am truly living the dream at the moment.”

The glamorous Dance School of the Year Awards 2019 black-tie ceremony will be held on Friday 25th October 2019 at the Woodbury Park Hotel, Devon. We wish Maria and all the Live 4 Dancing team the very best of luck!

Live 4 Dancing is a place where students from the age of 5-17 learn to Ballroom dance and perform. It’s a studio where creativity, individuality and self-expression are encouraged and has a community of teachers and students who are passionate about the performing arts.

The academy, which operates on weekdays and weekends, strives to nurture and develop talent, celebrate the achievements of all students and inspire a love and appreciation of dance. It is committed to providing a safe and positive environment in which all students can feel empowered, comfortable and free to express themselves.

A structured class programme teaches the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep in Ballroom, and the Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive, Paso Doble, Salsa and Bachata in Latin.

Children have the opportunity to take exams assessed by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and take part in performances twice a year.
