U11s

AEK v Hinton & Finchley.

A great game of football with good quality shown by both teams. AEK took the lead from a great long range effort from Sami before Hinton equalised just before half time. With both teams playing well with purpose and commitment, AEK took the lead from an excellent strike from Deen taken on the half-volley after a great corner delivery from Marcus. Hinton replied with an impressive long range equaliser. Both chances then had chances to come on top but all in all, the result was fair.

Goals- Sami and Deen

MOM Henry- a solid defensive performance from him

AEK black lost 16-2 to a red division side in cup. Very disappointing start and were 3-0 in first 5 minutes. We improved in second half and managed to score a couple of goals. When we got it right we looked really good but I think we need to work on the basics and start stronger. Lapses in concentration and individual errors cost us but also the hunger wasn’t there in first half. We were well beaten by a better side but the manner of defeat in the first half needs to be addressed

U18s Gold team league Aldenham Excel Eagles FC (2) AEK Youth Gold (2)!This was our first league game of the season following two cup games previously. The team started positively on a deceptively bumpy pitch against a tram that had only 11 players. The surface provided control problems for both teams and so it became quite a scrappy game with players miscontrolling the ball frequently. After some heavy pressure we hit the bar and missed a few other opportunities, we managed to score with a long range shot from Andreas, which took their goalkeeper by surprise and looped into the top corner. Unfortunately, we let the opposition gain confidence and they produced a number of chances which ended with them getting an equaliser before half time. The second half produces more of the same and we then started to pressurise their goal with a wave of attacks which then led to one of our forwards being tripped in the box for a penalty. Andreas dispatched this with confidence to put us two up, but as tiredness set in for both teams they managed a counter attack which resulted in our defender fouling the attacker on a one on one chance to earn a penalty. This was converted to level the scores and the game played out to the end to earn a very frustrating draw against a team who showed great resilience to hold out with only 11 players Scorers and MOM Andreas Tzouliou (2) (1 pen)

So proud of the U18 Black today. As mentioned we were without a keeper and down to the bare bones. However, every player stepped up and put in a fantastic performance. We came away with a 4-2 win so in the hat for the next round of the cup.

Goalscorer; Vas (x2), Kage and Furkan.

MOM Vas.
