As the results came in this morning, executive member for children, young people & families Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz attended Highbury Fields school with Mayor of Islington Cllr Rakhia Ismail, to congratulate pupils.

Among those celebrating was Jenna Cahusac de Caux, who got AAB in English, Sociology and Maths.

She said: “I’m happy with my results, I needed an A and two Bs to get into Bristol University to study English Literature, so I have what I need to get in. I was really worried about getting a good grade in English as I felt I didn’t do very well in this subject, but I got an A in it! I’ve told my parents and they are really happy too.”

Rufaida Haramein has already decided on her next steps. She said: “I’ve got the results I needed to study aerospace engineering at the University of Birmingham. I’m really happy!”

Also over the moon were Iris Britwum who is “excited to go to University of Kent to study Biomedical Science.” and Maryam Begum who is off to attend the University of Greenwich to study English Literature and was delighted with her results. 

Cllr Comer-Schwartz said: “Well done to all the young people who got their AS and A-Level results today! Getting to this point is an achievement you should be exceptionally proud of. The fact that Islington students’ results continue to improve despite a national downturn is a real testament to the hard work of the students and the support of their teachers, families and friends.”
