Children and young people in Haringey will have a bumper programme of activities to participate in this summer, with a full schedule of events throughout the school holidays.

Haringey has released its 2019 summer holiday fun programme, with an array of over a hundred creative, sporting and keep-fit activities running from July to September. The programme is being delivered in partnership with Haringey schools, local sports clubs, arts venues and parks to keep children entertained during the summer break from school.

The Council’s direct investment of £130k into this year’s summer programme is significantly higher than the £100k invested with great success last year.  This additional investment has allowed us to provide a wide range of activities including sports like boxing, tennis and netball, creative activities such as cookery and jewellery-making and arts including dance and drama.

Having received a great response from families all over the borough last year, our £1 summer swimming for children under 16 is returning to the leisure centres at both Tottenham Green and Park Road, Crouch End. Children and young people will also be able to participate in a number of special sports tournaments and summer camps throughout the summer.

The programme provides for all age groups of young people and abilities, with most events suitable for those with disabilities and several activities designed specifically for children with additional needs.

The full programme will be sent to every Haringey school and will also be made available in Haringey’s libraries, leisure centres and other facilities, as well as being sent to community groups across the borough. All events are listed on the Haringey Council website.

Cllr Zena Brabazon, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Children & Families, said:

In Haringey we are committed to providing all of our young people with opportunities to enjoy and express themselves. This inclusive programme ensures that there will be fun this summer for children in Haringey of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Cllr Kaushika Amin, Cabinet Member for Corporate and Civic Services, said:

Every Haringey child deserves fun over the summer holidays and this programme – delivered in partnership with Fusion, the borough’s sports clubs and community organisations – makes sure that there truly is something for everyone. Whether a child prefers being inside or outdoors, playing sport or participating in the arts, the summer schedule includes fun for all.
