The older brother of a teenage boy shot through a window at Lockleys on Monday morning has been arrested and charged over the incident.

Several hours after leaving the family home with one of his uncles, Dimitri Gatis, 21, was taken for questioning by police over the shooting of his 16-year-old brother Alex.

Gatis’ parents, who are currently on holiday in Greece, are desperately trying to obtain a last-minute flight back home to see their injured son. They were able to witness the horrifying attack live through their phones, which are linked to the home’s security cameras.

Emergency crews rushed to the victim’s houseat 9:30 AM, where the teenager was found suffering from two gunshot wounds, one to his chest and the other to his stomach.

Gatis’ 21-year-old brother Dimitri was home at the time and telephoned for help after the supposed gunman, dressed in black, had fled the scene.

Last night,  Australian police charged Dimitri Gatis with the attempted murder of his brother, as well as drug trafficking and firearms offenses.

Tony Gatis was transferred to Royal Adelaide Hospital in critical condition, where he underwent surgery, and is now in stable condition.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that there was what some called a “minor altercation” at the property the night before the shooting.

Police stated that the victim had been in the front bedroom of his home when he was shot by the gunman from outside a window.

The victim’s uncle, Jim Gatis, told ABC that his nephew “is a really good kid and he’s never been involved in anything bad.”

The new Australian Archbishop Makarios made a statement following the shooting of the sixteen-year-old Greek-Australian.

Archbishop Makarios wrote: “I was informed with much pain of the shooting of … Alex Gatis from Adelaide and hasten to express my sincere sadness regarding this tragic event; and at the same time my best wishes to our dearest Alex Gatis and his family for a speedy recovery and convey the paternal wishes and love of His All Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.”

The newly-elected Archbishop continued, saying, “Violence can never be … justified under any condition and definitely does not express the ethos and spirit of our civilized country of Australia … I have made contact by telephone with His Grace Bishop Nikandros of Doryleon, Archepiscopal Vicar in Adelaide, and have asked him to visit Alex … so he may responsibly inform me of any progress with his health. I am certain that our Lord Jesus Christ and His Mother Mary will be of assistance.”
