No vote for AKEL-Left-New Forces should be wasted!
Every vote for AKEL strengthens the only consistent and resolute force struggling for our country’s reunification and the interests of the many

As the election campaign reaches a climax, governing DISY party, and in particular of course its President Averof Neophytou and the Presidential Palace, are behaving in a way that is an insult to political life and political forces, and is justifiably provoking the public’s ridicule.
As in every election, DISY is once again transforming itself in an effort to deceive citizens.
They are employing their Ministers to make rash promises, which as a rule they forget the very day after the elections.
Instead of putting forth arguments, they deliberately choose to sow fear and division using insults, aphorisms, characterizations and engaging in attacks.
They deliberately tell lies that they risk losing the first position in order to generate fanaticism among their supporters.
This proves that they embrace anything but European values. Indicative of how anti-European Averof Neophytou and government spokesman Prodromos Prodromou are thinking and acting is the fact that even the European Parliament’s Office in Cyprus reacted to DISY’s positions on the participation of Turkish Cypriots in the elections. The EP Office pointed out that all the citizens of the Republic of Cyprus are entitled to vote in the European elections. They are called upon to exercise their inalienable democratic right and elect those who will represent them in the European Parliament.
And while Mr. Neophytou is complaining about the votes of the Turkish Cypriots, who are Cypriots, at the same time he sent a letter – and we have such a letter in our hands – addressed to all EU citizens in Cyprus who are not Cypriot citizens. They are Europeans of course and are entitled to vote. DISY isn’t bothered by the votes of Community citizens, but by the votes of Turkish Cypriots. This is hypocrisy in all its splendor.
We call on every citizen of the Republic of Cyprus to participate in the electoral process. Through his/her vote to become the force that will force a change in developments, both in Europe and Cyprus. With his/her vote to halt the policies that are plunging Europe into inequality, unemployment and poverty; to make his/her vote a force that will eliminate austerity and cuts; to react with his/her vote to the elites’ dictates, demanding an alternative Europe that serves the peoples and their needs.
We call on each and every one to become the voice that is raising loud the demand that Cyprus can and must live a different life; that Cyprus should be reunited and to lay the foundations for a secure, viable and peaceful future; that a clear message is sent to the Anastasiades Government and DISY.
We’ve had enough of the authoritarianism and arrogance, of our intelligence being insulted.
We’ve had enough of cuts in salaries, nationalism, cronyism and clientelism, profits for the few and burdens for the many.
We’ve had enough of those who consider us to be “zeros” and who believe that there are “borrowed” consciences and second-class citizens. There aren’t any “borrowed” or “zero” consciences.
Sunday’s elections are extremely critical. Every vote cast for AKEL-Left-New Forces has multiple merits because it is a vote against those who do not want to change anything, neither in Europe, nor here in Cyprus. It is a vote against conservatism, against the established interests robbing the country, against populism and pre-election transformations.
Sunday’s elections are extremely critical, and that’s precisely why nothing should be taken for granted about the result and distribution of seats.
Not a single vote for AKEL-Left-New Forces should be wasted.
Every vote counts and strengthens that voice. Every vote cast for AKEL-Left-New Forces strengthens the only consistent, steadfast and powerful bastion of resistance against the government’s anti-social policies, against the policies that benefit the privileged few, against those who are keeping our country chained to the past, against the far-right.
