Winner of the tournament Takis Kleanthous with the Golf Society Captain George Vavs Georgiou

The second Cypriot Gold Society event of the season, the Spring Classic, was held on 18th April 2019 at Sandy Lodge Golf Club in Northwood. The Captain, George Vavs Georgiou welcomed the 55 members and 5 guests after breakfast and thanked the sponsor Takis Kleanthou from BIG K Charcoal, and the golf commenced.

The weather was pleasant, partly cloudy, mild and dry. The sand-based golf course was in good condition considering the wet weather of the previous few days.

The winner of the day was Takis Kleanthou, the sponsor, scoring 37 points! Takis was very pleased that he had once again won a Major event after a few years of recovering from knee surgery. It is the third time in the last 3 years that the sponsor has won his event, so hopefully this will encourage golfers to sponsor events.

Best Gross score was the young star, Michael Kyriakou, shooting 3 over par 75.

The day ended with dinner, speeches, prize giving and charitable donations in excess of £800 were raised! The Captain, Vavs chosen charity this year is Muscular Dystrophy for Children.

The Captain thanked the members guests and sponsor once again and invited everyone to attend the next event, on the 14th May at The Belfry Golf Club, Brabazon Course.
