The United States once again affirms its commitment to promoting peace, stability, security and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean region, says an announcement by the United States Embassy in Cyprus, on the occasion of a visit by a US Counterterrorism official to Cyprus.

In particular, it is noted that Alina Romanowski, Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the U.S. State Department, had several meetings on Friday with Republic of Cyprus officials.

The purpose of her trip was to enhance cooperation between the United States and Cyprus in the fields of combatting terrorism and promoting regional stability within the framework of the Statement of Intent, signed by the United States and the Republic of Cyprus last November, the announcement says.
