A woman from Waltham Cross has received a criminal record for committing Blue Badge fraud, following an investigation by the Hertfordshire Shared Anti-Fraud Service.

On 4 January 2019, a Waltham Cross resident faced charges under section 117 of the Road Traffic Act 1984 for falsely displaying a Blue Badge that did not belong to her.

She pleaded guilty to using a Blue Badge which she claims to have found on the floor of a car park in Waltham Cross.

The offender acknowledged the fact that she should have handed the Blue Badge to the authorities but instead used it to avoid paying for parking on 12 July 2018. She received a fine of £320, was ordered to pay investigation costs of £250 and a victim surcharge of £32.

Residents can report suspected fraud in the strictest of confidence online, by emailing [email protected] or calling 0300 123 4033.
