Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a care home on Old Dark Ridings, Southgate.

Part of a first floor bedroom was damaged by fire. Eight residents and five members of staff left the building before the arrival of the Brigade.

The Brigade was called at 1142 and the fire was was under control at 1213. Fire crews from Southgate, Edmonton, Enfield, and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
