Cyprus Parliamentarian Yiorgos Loukaides has been elected Chairperson of the PACE Sub-Committee on the Middle East and the Arab World.

Loukaides pledged to make every effort so that the Sub-Committee becomes a platform of dialogue and a communication bridge between Israeli and Palestinian MPs.

He also pointed out that the Sub-Committee will take advantage of the very good relations Cyprus has with the countries of the region in a state and parliament level as well as the trilateral agreements the Cyprus House has signed with Parliaments of countries in the Eastern Mediterranean in order to enhance the dialogue and the cooperation between these countries and the Council of Europe.
