KOPA League Round Up

In the first Division there was a  good game in Enfield between Omonia v Apoel ending 1-0 to Omonia with the winning goal for the Greens coming from Harry Philippou. But the real heroes of the game were the two keepers Omonia’s Philip and Apoel’s Emel.

Title chasing Anorthosis beat bottom of the table Achna  10-1 with their goals coming from Giorgios 2, Andre 2, Danny 2, Demetri, Adam, Spencer and Harry. Achna’s only goal came from Samuel Foster.

Olympia who lost to Komi Kebir first game of the season turned the tables round and beat them on Sunday 3-0 with a very convincing win and took a very early lead from the 3rd minute with Shaqa and just before half time Alfie made it 2-0 and Yemi wrapped it up in the second half with a class finish.

In the second divison there is a late surge coming from Panathinaikos who were struggling at the bottom of the table at the start of the season but are now top after beating KLN who have been the mainstay team at the top till now.  The game ended 7-2 in Panathinaikos favour but it wasn’t an easy start for Panathinaikos they had created several chances but could not score and also failed to score from the penalty spot. KLN exploited this with their striker Max scoring a great individual goal. Panathinaikos reacted by scoring three goals and going into the break 3-1 up witheir goals coming from Dylan two goals and Andy.  Zack made it 4-1 but Max scored his and KLN’s second goal to make it 4-2. KLN went down to 10 men and Panathinaikos went onto score three more goals with Zack, Andrew and Ricky to finish 7-2 winners.

Akanthou pulled a surprise victory over Brotherhood 3-2 which lifts them off the bottom of the table and puts Brotherhood there. It was a very exciting game with Akanthou taking the lead with Theo Shoukri but just before the break Brotherhood equalised with Chris Spyrou. The second half Brotherhood started by pushing for a second goal but Akanthou held out and scored a second with Theo again and then again to give him a hat trick. Brotherhood scored a penalty in the 85th minute through Rhys Watson  to make it 3-2.

Pantel  got back to winning ways beating inform Cinar 3-2 who were leading 2-0 in the 20th minute with goals from Alex Phylaktides and Max Mitchell but Pantel hit back with a goal from Dario just before the break, Maldini then scored a second and Marley hit a classic winning goal in the 80th minute with a 30 yard blaster.
