Political equality is a vital feature of the mutually agreed federal solution in Cyprus, the leaders and the representatives of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties who met on Wednesday for their regular meeting at the Ledra Palace have agreed.
According to the joint communique of the meeting, held under the auspices of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Cyprus, the participants expressed opinions on the issue “The significance of the political equality” proposed by the hosting party, the Republic Turkish Party (CTP).
As it has been announced, no regular meeting of the leaders and the representatives of the political parties will be held in December 2018. The next meeting will be announced in due time.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory.
