St Panteleimon are the first Greek named team to play in the FA Vase Cup and they made us proud by advancing to the next round to now play Long Buckby from Daventry at home.

In front of a big crowd at North Greenford stadium they played Holmer Green from the higher level Hellenic League it was a tough game coming out 3-1 winners.

The Saints took the lead in the 27th minute when a cross from Nikos Salapatas ended at the feet of Noyan Tajbakhsh who swiftly banged it into to the back of the net.

Holmer Green equalised in the 35th minute but just before the half time break Ayub Albadri scored from close range to give the Saints a 2-1 half time lead.

The second half Holmers Green put pressure on the Saints but they withstood it and became stronger and were rewarded with a spectacular third goal from Guillermo Monti who ran from the half way lane passing four players before sliding the ball past the Holmers Green oncoming goalkeeper into an empty net to make it 3-1.

They had more chances but the game ended 3-1 and a great victory for St Panteleimon.
