Last nights report Barnet v Braintree

Barnet were left frustrated as they were held at home by Braintree Town in the second game of the season

A stereotypical ‘game of two halves’ saw Barnet on the back foot in the first half.

Christie Pattison has an effort blocked by Dan Sparkes before Jonathan Muleba curled an effort wide of Mark Cousins’ right-hand post.

17 minutes in and Ben Killip made a superb save in the Braintree goal to stop Charlee Adams’ flick on.

Cheye Alexander raced down on goal but unselfishly offered to square it, his pass was poor however and the danger was cleared.

The visitors took the lead 35 minutes in when Jack Taylor was unlucky to turn a low cross into his own net despite Cousins’ best efforts.

Almost immediately after the restart, Adams struck the upright from 20 yards before Della-Verde got a shot away at the other end but fired it over.

Barnet equalised shortly after the hour mark when substitute Shaq Coulthirst slid home Dan Sparkes’ pin-point cross.

The Bees would continue to push for a winner, Medy Elito was unlucky to see his shot deflected away from the target .

Elliott Johnson had an effort sail over the crossbar before Harrison just couldn’t get on the end of Coulthirst’s excellent cross.

Killip would pull off an outstanding save in the dying minutes, somehow hooking away Adams’ looping effort.
