Revenue from tourism decreased in the fourth month of 2018 but showed an increase in the first months of the year, as Cystat, the Statistical Service of Cyprus, reported on Wednesday.

On the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, revenue from tourism reached €181,4 mn in April 2018 compared to €189,6 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 4,3%.

Between January – April 2018 revenue from tourism was €382,5 mn compared to €357,7 mn in the corresponding period of 2017, rising by 6,9%.

Expenditure per person in April 2018 reached €577,39 compared to €662,06 in the corresponding month of the previous year, decreasing by 12,8%. Expenditure per person/per day in the fourth month of 2018 also recorded a decrease of 5,3% compared to April 2017.

The average length of stay declined from 8,8 days in April 2017 to 8,1 days in April 2018 or by 8,0%.

Expenditure per person between January – April 2018 reached €559,54 compared to €625,32 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a decrease of 10,5%. Expenditure per person/per day also registered an annual decrease of 6,3%, from €71,06 to €66,61, in the first four months of 2018.
