Firefighters are reminding restaurant and takeaway owners to make sure their extraction systems are clean after a fire in a pub.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to the blaze in Granary Square, Camden.

Part of the kitchen, most of a ground floor store room, half of a first floor store room and all of the ducting from the lower ground floor to the roof were damaged in the fire.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the cause of the fire was from fat and oil in the ducting being ignited by the a wood burner.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Restaurant and take-away owners should always take care to make sure their extraction systems are kept clean as a build up of fat and grease within the filters can lead to a fire.”

The Brigade was called at 1731 and the fire was under control at 1920. Fire crews from Euston, Kentish Town and Islington fire stations attended the scene.
