It was revealed at Nicosia District Court, where 33-year-old suspect allegedly appeared connected to the double murder .
The judge granted the police’ request for an 8 day detention. The suspect faces charges for premeditated murder, conspiracy to kill, robbery, kidnapping, burglary, and abduction amongst others.
The police gave a chronological account of the events that took place during the night of the murders placing the suspect on the scene through DNA and other evidence like shoes.
It is believed the suspect plotted this scenario five years ago and recently told a a friend he will be rich soon.
Police are now searching for a second person who apparently was partner in crime.
The Greek-Cypriot couple were found dead in their house in Strovolos. on Thursday, April the 19th 2018 around 1:45 AM, neighbours of the couple notified the police that two persons were injured in a house in Zaloggou street, Strovolos. Policemen found the two victims lying in a pool of blood inside their house.
Reports at the time said the neighbours were notified by a 15-year-old child, which was in the couples’ house at the time of the murder. The couple were killed in front of the child. The alleged murderers wore black hoods and speaking Greek.
The 60 year old husband was a teacher and his 59 year old wife worked for the Central Bank.
