Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Trinity Close in Dalston.
Part of a flat on the second floor of the building was damaged by fire.
The Brigade was called at 0109 and the fire was under control at 0208. Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Homerton and Islington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.
