St Michael’s Primary School in Bounds Green Road, Wood Green has been working on a three year project to enhance and improve outdoor spaces for the children of the school.  Studies have shown that growing and tending plants improves the mind set and well being of children of all ages.

The day began last Thursday 19th October 2017 with the whole school gathering in the main hall with a welcome from the head of the school Mrs Julia Christou, followed by The Bishop of Edmonton Bishop Robert and Father Ian of St Michael’s church speaking and opening song and prayers and readings from the Bible from the school children.

Then all the children proceeded into the outdoor area and they had all made a windmill to place in the garden to symbolise promising to look after the garden.

The Bishop of Edmonton Bishop Robert and Father Ian of St Michael’s church carried out a ‘Blessing of the new garden’ at St Michael’s CE School in front of the school children, teachers and the executive head Simon Knowles and guests.

The School are very proud to be having our grand opening and show casing our new outdoor space which includes flowers and vegetables that children have planted and a modern eco hut. Some children are also part of a Gardening club after school where they grow and look after the plants around the school.

Bishop of Edmonton   said  ‘he  was  blown  away  by  the  children’s  singing  and  excellent  behaviour.’  The  children truly represented the school with their behaviour, enthusiasm, singing and beautiful  windmills. It was so wonderful to see so many parents and visitors, which captures the real community feel that we have at St Michael’s that is so special.
