The government has welcomed the official commencement of the operation of the observatory in Troodos, which it considers to be a pioneering project that gives the opportunity to Cyprus to join the world scientific society in the specific sector.

In a press release, the Presidency notes that “it is important to say that the Nicosia Astronomy School began operating today for the first time, which had been announced last August by the President of the Republic.”

“The Astronomy School began operating today at a private school. Its funding was undertaken by a civilian, who wishes to remain anonymous,” the press release says.
