Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after a 70-year-old man died following a fail to stop road traffic collision in Haringey.

 

Police were called to High Road, N17 junction with Seven Sisters at 01:35hrs on Saturday, 12 August to reports of a road traffic collision.

 

Police and London Ambulance Service attended. A pedestrian, a man in his 70s was found unresponsive following a collision with a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Next-of-kin have been informed.

 

Although officers believe they know the identity of the deceased, we await formal identification.

 

The driver of the vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene.

 

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man [A] and a 27-year-old man [B] on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and causing death by dangerous driving.

 

He has been taken to a north London police station for questioning.

 

The vehicle involved in the collision has been located.

 

Officers from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating.

 

Local road closures are in place and parts of the pavement between the High Road and Stonebridge Estate are also closed to members of the public.
