The UK Cypriot Mayor of Cambridge Councillor George Pippas and his wife Mayoress of Cambridge Anastasia Pippas were present in Germany on Thursday 22nd July 2017 with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate who were there on tour.

Cambridge is twinned with Heidelberg in southern Germany and Councillor George Pippas the Mayor of Cambridge was present at this historical event.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took to the waters of the River Neckar where they took part in a boat race and also visited the local market.

George is from Paliometocho, in Cyprus which is situated 12 miles from Nicosia near the old Nicosia Airport.  He is the the sixth in line out of nine children (Six boys and three girls).

He is  married to Anastasia Pippas who is from the same village .They  have three children: Christina, Gregory, and Antoni .
