Detectives in Enfield are appealing for information after a 55-year-old man sustained multiple injuries in an unprovoked attack.

Police attended the victim’s home address on Thursday, 23 June and were informed that he was attacked on Wednesday, 21 June after he had got off a bus.

The victim informed officers that at approximately 18:30hrs he was approached by a stranger from behind in Waterfall Road, N11.

The suspect then hit him with a blunt object, causing him to fall over a garden wall.

The victim made his way home and following advice from a friend sought medical assistance.

He attended a north London hospital where they confirmed he had suffered a fractured eye socket and cheekbone.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone with information to come forward.

DC William Gilmour from Enfield CID said: “This was a brutal and unprovoked attack on a man who was simply walking home. There was a lot of traffic in the area at that time with people on their way home from work. We need to find the person responsible who clearly will not hesitate to commit violence.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 020 8345 4458 or 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
