Two fire engines were called to a bus on fire in Aspen Way, Poplar in the early hours of this morning.

A double decker bus was completely damaged by fire.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the fire as it was out of service. The driver evacuated the bus uninjured and called the Brigade.

A total of 29 calls about the fire were made to the Brigade’s 999 control officers.

The Brigade was called at 0043 and the fire was under control at 0135. Fire crews from Poplar and Millwall fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
