First Division

Anorthosis 2 Livadia 3 This league game was always going to be a tight one with some good results recently from both teams.  However Anorthosis started the brightest and dominated the first 20 minutes and were rewarded with a penalty which was converted by their veteran George Gregoriou. 1-0 Anorthosis who continued to outplay Livadia and had chances and could have made it 2-0. However Livadia were awarded a penalty. It was taken by Elia Katsoloudi but  was saved by the  Anorthosis keeper. First half finished 1-0 to Anorthosis and deserved to be ahead after a very quiet performance by Livadia. Not for the first time this season the Livadia Management had some strong words for the team which seem to respond fairly quickly. After a great move Andreas Kyprianou managed to chip the keeper from the edge of the box. At 1-1 there were chances at either end however Livadia’s captain Elia Katsioloudi curled a free kick over the stranded keeper. The score was 2-1 Livadia and from the kick Anorthosis tried to chip the keeper resulting in a corner.

From the corner Anorthosis equalised with a header. At  2-2 This game was there for a winner but who was going to grab that winner was yet to be decided. A free kick from the Livadia captain found Andreas Kyprianou free in the box who scored to make it 3-2 to Livadia with 10 minutes to play. A great game, played in Great Spirit and overall very entertaining. The game finished 3-2 Livadia and was also televised by Hellenic TV.

Second Division

Asha 1 Komi Kebir 3

Asha 1-3 Komi Kebir came into this game having not won since the 20th Nov, but they started with a desire to break that run. They could have had a penalty after 3 mins when the Asha keeper Mario collided with the Komi forward Andrew just inside the box but the referee saw it as accidental. Komi played controlled and patient football but Asha always looked dangerous on the break and they nearly took the lead when Adem Ali weaved through the Komi defense but his shot hit the post.

As hard as Asha tried Komi’s defense held strong, marshaled but their captain Duncan Quigley. It was Komi who took the lead just before h/t when a corner was half cleared and the ball feel to Duncan just side the box who tucked the ball into the side netting. The 2nd half followed the same pattern as the 1st with Komi controlling the midfield and their rearguard keeping super stickers Chris Spyrou and Adem Ali in check.

Asha nearly equalized twice with a great free kick from Ali but his shot hit the crossbar and again from Ali 5 mins later but his shot from outside the box was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Andonis in the Komi goal. Komi extended their lead when a corner by Dids Vassiliou was powerfully headed in by substitute Andreas Bryant. Asha pulled a goal back with 10 mins to go with a great strike by Chris Spyrou from outside the box.

The game was finally settled when Bryant tapped in at the back post following a great run down the left by Demitri Loizou. So Komi are back up to 2nd spot and if they have more games like this will surely be challenging for promotion.

Maronites 0 Cetinkaya Cinar 3

Cetinkaya Cinar continue their incredible form even with top strikers out with long term injuries.  Adem Esen had the first chance but his chip went agonisingly past the post.

Cinar took the lead on 35 minutes, a Daniel Florence low shot bouncing over the keeper for 1-0.

Maronites had some moments without troubling Allan Buck in goal.  On 77 minutes Jamie Smith calmly and deservedly made it 2-0 and on 84 minutes the move of the game by Cinar involving some nice interchanging of passes with Daniel and Jamie, ending with Dean Florence showing what a major signing he is, by tormenting the Maronites defence and adding a goal on his debut.  Cetinkaya Cinar’s amazing form has certainly made it an interesting run-in.

Apoel 10 Achna 3

This must have been the most exciting match of the day Apoel were 2-0 up and looked like it was going to be one way traffic but Achna made sure that was not going to be the case.

Before you know it Achna got it 2-2 with two goals from Theokli Charalambous Apoel then got a penalty to retake the lead 3-2 but Achna equalised just before the break with a goal from Theokli to give him a hat trick.

At the start of the second half Achna hit the woodwork and then it was all Apoel scoring seven goals to give them a 10-3 win. Apoel’s goals came from Adam Lambrou 3, George Sifonios 3, George Lutayya 2, Vincent Lwanga and Alex Violaris.
