The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies in the world and a member of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, is pleased to announce its second hotel signing in Cyprus: Radisson Blu Conference and Airport Hotel, Larnaca. Scheduled to open in 2019, the signing grows Rezidor’s footprint across Europe to 337 hotels and 73,500 rooms in operation or development.

rezidorThe island’s first airport hotel and conference center, and the country’s second international hotel signing in years, will be located just 3km from Larnaca International Airport and will have 180 guest rooms and extensive meetings and events facilities. The hotel also will feature superb leisure facilities including a spa, gym, tennis court and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

“We are delighted to sign our second hotel in Cyprus and to extend our relationship with Sunnyseeker Hotels, following the signing of our first property in Cyprus in 2015, with JWPegasus. Cyprus is a market still dominated by local hotel brands. We are adding and growing the international Radisson Blu brand and opening new accommodation options to our customers,” said Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer of the Rezidor Hotel Group.

“The airport hotel and conference center also will provide a differentiated business opportunity, distinct from the island’s traditional leisure segment. The hotel will be the perfect complement to our existing property under construction in the city, the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence, Larnaca,” added Younes.

Larnaca International Airport has recently undergone a €650M upgrade, and the city is home to the second largest commercial port on the island. Future government projects include plans to transform Larnaca port and marina into a major tourist hub and create the largest marina in Cyprus, while capitalizing on the island’s recently discovered offshore gas exploration potential.

Marios Polyviou, CEO of Sunnyseeker Hotels, said, “We are pleased to develop our relationship with Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group with the signing of Radisson Blu Conference and Airport Hotel, Larnaca. We believe future demand will only grow with the city’s keenly anticipated future plans for tourism development, combined with the appeal of a trusted brand such as Radisson Blu.”

Larnaca sits on the southern coast of Cyprus and is the third-largest city in the country, after Nicosia and Limassol. Larnaca City also offers diversified activities, thanks to its strong cultural and historical heritage and the richness of its environment.
