Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was assaulted during a demonstration.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at approximately 16:40hrs on Sunday, 6 November to reports of a 72-year-old man found suffering head injuries in a damaged car on Green Lanes, close to the junction with Hermitage Road, N4.

The man made his own way home and was then taken to hospital for treatment by LAS. He was treated for his injuries and was discharged the following morning.

It is believed that the man was assaulted between 16:15 and 16:25hrs by a group of people taking part in a march and demonstration. The group is believed to have surrounded his car before smashing its windows in Green Lanes.

Officers from Haringey would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the assault or who took part in the march and saw what happened.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
