Firefighters were called to a boat sinking on the River Thames close to London Bridge in the early hours of this morning.

A 40 tonne boat was taking on water and sunk to a depth of two metres. Thankfully there was nobody on board the vessel.

The Brigade’s fire boat was called to pump water from the vessel and crews assisted with securing the boat to a mooring barge. The Port of London Authority was also in attendance.

The Brigade was called at 0401 and the incident was over for us at 1333.

Crews from Lambeth River and Euston fire station stations attended the scene.
