Firefighters tackled a ground floor flat fire on Pennington Drive in Southgate this morning.

A man left the affected flat before the Brigade arrived. Two residents in a flat above were led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

The Brigade was called at 0559 and the fire was under control by 0640. Fire crews from Southgate and Edmonton fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation
