SYLLOURIS%20DemetrisSolidarity Movement MP Demetris Syllouris was elected House President on Thursday with the support of ruling DISY.

Demitris Syllouris gained 21 votes in the third round of voting during the 56-seat parliament’s first session following the May 22 elections.

Syllouris was voted by the 18 DISY MPs and his party’s three deputies.

The House presidency was contested by DISY leader Averof Neophytou, AKEL leader Andros Kyprianou, EDEK chairman Marinos Sizopoulos, and Green party chairman Giorgos Perdikis.
