Michalakis Michael well known to the UK community as the chairman of New Salamis in UK.Woke up this morning Monday to a fallen tree on the door step of his fish and chip shop Mickys Chippy in Pellegrin road N16 in Stoke Newington.

He could not believe his eyes they have since moved the tree so its back to normal for the chippy.

Firefighters and 999 control officers have dealt with over 110 Storm Katie incidents due to high winds.

Since midnight firefighters have attended an increased number of windy weather related incidents including scaffolding in a precarious position and fallen trees.

Fire crews battled atrocious weather conditions to rescue 13 people including five children after a fire broke out in a restaurant below their flats on Hounslow High Street on Sunday night.

Other incidents attended included:

• A roof collapse on Haydon Road in South Wimbledon
• A tree down on the South Circular in Forest Hill
• A chimney collapse on Roxeth Green Avenue in South Harrow

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:

“Firefighters are always on hand should any buildings, hoardings or scaffolding be left in a precarious position and posing a risk to life because of high winds. Our 999 control officers have worked tirelessly to deal with hundreds of calls and get fire crews there as quickly as possible.

“To help stay safe during windy weather people should always clear gardens, balconies and window sills of anything that could be blown away. They should also take extra care if they venture outside and be careful using candles in the case of a power cut.”
