Jewish Community of Cyprus meets Israel’s Diaspora Minister in Larnaca
The Jewish Community of Cyprus hosted Israel’s Diaspora Minister, Amichai Chikli, in Larnaca on Wednesday.

The Jewish Community of Cyprus says in a press release that it ”had the honour of hosting Israel’s Diaspora Minister, Amichai Chikli, for a significant discussion on the evolving Jewish presence in Cyprus, diplomatic collaboration, security concerns, and the deep-rooted ties between Cyprus and Israel.”

”With an estimated 4,000 Jewish families now residing in Cyprus, the community has experienced substantial growth over the past two decades. Major waves of arrival include 70 families in 2003, 500 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, 1,000 following changes in the legal system, and a significant increase in migration during and after the October 7 war in Israel,” it is added.

”During the meeting with the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus, Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin, Minister Chikli engaged in discussions regarding diplomatic initiatives, security challenges, and the rise of antisemitism in the region. The dialogue emphasized the importance of fostering a safe and thriving environment for the Jewish community while strengthening the longstanding relationship between Cyprus and Israel,” the press release notes.
