President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, arrived in Cairo for the 2nd Cyprus-Egypt Intergovernmental Summit and the Trilateral Summit Cyprus, Greece Egypt.
The President and his entourage were welcomed at the airport by Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif. The Cypriot delegation arrived at the Presidential Palace where they were greeted by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for a private meeting to be followed by expanded talks.
During the Trilateral Summit, with the participation of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, memoranda of understanding are to be signed, including in the areas of healthcare, ports development, Information and Communications Technology and strengthening investment relations.
Prior to the Trilateral Summit, the 2nd Cyprus-Egypt Intergovernmental Summit will take place, during which current regional developments will be discussed as well as the possibilities for joint investment projects in the sectors of infrastructure, trade, technology, innovation and tourism will be discussed and actions for closer energy cooperation.
During the Intergovernmental Summit, several memoranda of understanding will also be signed in areas of common interest, such as education, Information and Communications Technology, women’s empowerment, water management and aquaculture development, he said.
The three leaders are expected to make statements to the media at 14.30. President Christodoulides and the Cypriot delegation will then depart from Egypt.
On the sidelines of the Intergovernmental and Trilateral Summits, a business forum will take place with the participation of business representatives from the three countries.
