British sandwich and coffee chain Pret a Manger plans to expand into Cyprus in 2025, following a deal with local retail group Voici La Mode (VLM).

The chain currently operates more than 700 outlets across 19 countries.

Official announcements about the Cyprus launch are expected in the coming days, according to local media reports.

VLM Group, which will manage Pret’s Cyprus operations, has over 70 years of experience in retail fashion and food service on the island. The group represents several international brands including Marks & Spencer, Mamas & Papas, and Etam.

Founded in London in 1983 by Julian Metcalfe and Sinclair Beecham, Pret a Manger is known for its fresh sandwiches and organic coffee. The chain emphasises natural ingredients and makes its sandwiches daily on premises, with unsold food donated to charity at day’s end.

The company has implemented various environmental initiatives aimed at reducing food waste and eliminating single-use plastics. It adapts its menu to local tastes whilst maintaining its quality standards.

Pret first ventured outside Britain in 2002 with its Hong Kong opening, followed by the United States in 2003. The chain now operates in multiple markets including France, Switzerland, India, Germany, and Greece.
