A visionary artist, a tireless advocate for cultural expression, and a true pioneer in the world of theatre, George passed away peacefully at the age of 93, at 8am at the Royal Free Hospital following a heart attack earlier in the week.

George Eugeniou established Theatro Technis in 1957 with a mission to provide a platform for creativity, inclusivity, and cultural exchange. George Eugeniou was born in Limassol, Cyprus. He came to London in 1950 to study theatre and received a scholarship to the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, where he won Spotlight and Webber Cup awards for his acting. He appeared in the films Moonlight with Dirk Bogarde and Riviera Touch with Morecambe and Wise then Hungry Hill with Robert Mitchum.

Marilyn Panayi, Chair of the board of Theatro Technis, says: “George Eugeniou was more than a founder; he was the heart and soul of Theatro Technis. His passion for the arts and belief in their ability to use theatre to transform lives will continue to inspire us all. He leaves behind an indelible legacy.”
