Barnet go back to the top of the National League table with a hard fought win over Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

The hosts kicked off the game by winning an early set piece which they swung in but Ade Oluwo jumped highest to head clear.

The first shot of the game came to Ryan Glover who tried his luck from the edge of the box but his effort bended wide of the right-hand post.

It took just ten minutes for the Bees to get off the mark. Bailey Hobson with a shot from inside the box was deflected kindly into the path of Ryan Glover at the back post who made no mistake.

Yeovil were struggling to get going in this contest and this became apparent when Callum Stead found himself in a shooting position from inside the box, but Ollie Wright made a smart stop to deny him.

The game came inches close from being 2-0 in the 23rd minute when Glover’s cross met the head of Nicke Kabamba inside the box, but he put his effort just over the bar.

Bailey Hobson was next to have a go at goal, but his shot whitelisted past the left-hand post.

The Bees went into half time a goal to the good but dominant in performance.

Half Time 0-1

Yeovil came out the second half fighting and came close early doors when James Plant launched a shot at goal, but it rolled wide of the left-hand post.

The hosts launched another attack at the Bees when a corner swung in met the flick on of Ed James who put his header wide.

Plant was next to have a go for the hosts but his shot from range flew high over the bar and unable to test Nick Hayes.

Barnet were looking to get a foot in the second half and substitute Rhys Browne looking to make an instant impact when his flick on from a Hobson cross was saved by Wright.

Yeovil’s second half pressure finally paid off when a loose ball in the box fell to James Plant who fired the ball past Hayes.

Barnet nearly had an instant response when a Glover cross fell to Stead in the box who missed his shot, but the ball fell to Idris Kanu who couldn’t keep his shot down.

The Yeovil goal spurred the Bees on, and the lead was retaken when Hartigan fed in a short cross and there was Danny Collinge to head the ball past Wright from inside the box.

Yeovil thought they had their equaliser with seconds to spare when the ball was flicked on in the box but only to narrowly hit the post.

There was to be no more drama as Barnet won the game, inhering the top sport in the National League once again.
