King Charles III has congratulated the Republic of Cyprus on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of its independence in a letter addressed to President Christodoulides.

Conveying Queen Camilla’s wishes as well, His Majesty notes the “close bond” shared between the two nations and states his confidence that these ties “will continue to flourish in this very special seventy-fifth anniversary year of the Commonwealth – a fitting reminder of the enduring values and aspirations that unite us.”

King Charles then welcomes Cyprus’s “leadership on promoting marine conservation, restoration and sustainable resource management,” and further welcomes the two nations’ shared commitment to tackling these issues and the “broader, critical challenge of climate change.”

He concludes by saying that he looks forward to all Commonwealth members coming together in Samoa soon for the Heads of Government meeting.
