The easy process is to establish the truth that Turkey remains intransigent on the Cyprus problem, but the bottom line is what the President of the Republic intends to do to act and move things forward in order to convince the international community to put pressure on Turkey, AKEL Political Bureau member and MP Aristos Damianou pointed out to ‘Astra’ radio.
The AKEL MP called on the President of the Republic to make an assessment of the responsibilities of Nicos Anastasiades’ administration in the solution of the Cyprus problem, in which he himself participated.
Regarding the positive agenda of the Confidence Building Measures, Aristos Damianou noted that what was announced should be implemented, but also the agenda should be broadened to include the energy factor.
A.Damianou also stressed the need for the President to inform the political forces promptly about the contacts of the UN Secretary General’s envoy on Cyprus Ms María Angela Holguín Cuéllar and what she had conveyed to him.
The AKEL Political Bureau member recalled AKEL’s proposals to move the Cyprus process forward, while assessing that we are far from that and stressing that each and everyone must assume their responsibility to do exactly that.
