On the night of Friday 19th May a group of six determined 10 year old girls and their very proud mums took to the streets of our beautiful borough Enfield with hundreds of people at the Nightingale Cancer Support Centre Night Hike to raise money for people affected by cancer.
There was such an incredible atmosphere in the air at the Civic Centre as the community joined together to support this wonderful local charity. Newly elected Mayor of Enfield Mohammad Islam also attended and wished the girls luck with their sponsored walk.
They paraded around the borough dressed in their red tutus, glow sticks and balloons raising awareness, making memories and honouring those around them who have been touched by cancer.
Local residents and passers-by showed their support along the route as they cheered them on and beeped their car horns.
It truly was an emotional end to the evening as they reached the finish line and received their medals. Every step of their 15K journey was worth it, as they raised just over £1,000 between them.
Well done to everyone who took part and supported the event. To find out more about this charity and how you can get involved next year visit the Nightingale CSC website: https://www.nightingalesupport.org.uk ‎
