Procedures in Larnaca on Amalthea project continue,

Procedures in Larnaca as regards the Amalthea project continue with all involved partners, Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, told CNA on Wednesday regarding the suspension of works at the temporary pier built by the US military for the transfer of humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea.

Asked by CNA about the interruption created after the temporary pier was damaged due to high seas, Letymbiotis said that the US were making all necessary repairs and that reassembly of the pier would take about a week.

On the part of the Republic of Cyprus, he added, the procedures related to the Amalthea project in Larnaca were “continuing as normal” with all involved partners, and in particular, inspection, loading and transfer either to safe temporary storage or to a vessel outside Gaza.

The Pentagon has announced that US Army engineers were working to reassemble the pier.
