Cypriot Golf Society Challenge Shield

The Cypriot Golf Society held their third event of the 2024 season, The Challenge Shield at the wonderful Tandridge Park Golf Club in Oxted Surrey, on the 9^th May. The generous sponsors of the day were Christakis Kleanthous and Michael Theodorou of BIG K CHARCOAL.

And what befitting weather for this wonderful golf club it was, glorious sunshine on a warm spring day, with shorts and tee shirts worn by the golfers, making the whole day a memorable experience. An impressive turnout of 60 golfers, including 10 guests made the long journey from North London to Surrey to experience this beautifully manicured golf course, one of the best many members claim to have played in the UK.for children of Cypriot descent who are between the ages of 7 and 14

Captain Steve Chrysostomou has proven to be the sunshine captain, with all 3 of this year’s events having decent weather, sunshine and no rain. After breakfast, Captain Steve thanked the sponsors Takis and Michael, and gave a short talk on details for the day, with the first tee time at 12pm.

Tandridge Park has some exceptional holes with elevated tee boxes offering panoramic views of the golf course and the surrounding area. The fairways, greens, first and second cuts were manicured like carpets. Truly amazing!

Winner of the day was Tom Theodorou with an excellent score of 38 points, beating Josh Toumany and Vange Evangelou by 2 points.

Tandridge Golf Club is a traditional club with the dress attire for dinner being jacket and tie. Dinner was also of the highest quality, with a fantastic 3 meat carvery, a huge selection of vegetables and dessert that followed.

After dinner, Captain Steve issued the entertaining customary fine for indiscretions, with the proceeds going to Steve’s nominated charity, Christoforos Charity Foundation, Helping Save Lives, the total raised so far this year being an impressive £2,190.
