New Salamis 1 AEK 3

AEK completed a hatrick of victories over title chasing rivals New Salamis in front of a good and enthusiastic crowd. The 3-1 win keeps AEK on course for a unique treble.

Coaches Marino and Stathi made a tactical switch and it paid off. Sacrificing the goal threat of top scorer Lucca by giving him a central midfield role. The inspirational captain won duals all over the pitch and kept in check Salamis strong midfield. It allowed AEK to gradually get control and took a first half lead with Amarion. An injury to striker Michael meant early changes for AEK but they kept Salamis at bay and made it 2-0 with a 25 yard free kick from Sami to put the pressure on the home side. With Lucca off injured Salamis begun to create danger and pulled one back with a good goal from Dimitri. AEK took a chance and sent their captain back and he promptly responded by clearing off the line to deny Salamis an equaliser.

It was a good game very competitive well controlled by the officials and appreciated by the crowd as AEK finally put the game beyond their rivals when Nehemiah made 3-1. It started huge celebrations by the visitors knowing the importance of another three points.
