President to elaborate on impacts of climate change in Cyprus at COP28 summit

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, will elaborate on the serious impacts of climate change in Cyprus, but also in the Eastern Mediterranean during the Summit on Global Climate Action at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, where he is flying on Thursday afternoon.

A Presidency press release said that during the Summit, which focuses on the implementation of existing initiatives and commitments to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement (COP21), the President of the Republic will address the participants regarding the serious impacts of climate change in Cyprus, but also in the Eastern Mediterranean.

He will also refer to the progress in the implementation of the action plan to address the impacts of Climate Change, in the context of the implementation of the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus presented at last year’s Climate Summit.

He will also attend events on the margins of COP28 and hold bilateral meetings with country leaders.

The President and his entourage will return to Cyprus late December 2.
