New Salamis FC 2 – 1 Lowestoft Town

We welcomed league leaders Lowestoft Town to Coles Park, but you would have been hard pressed to conclude who were the top team.

Salamis started on fire forcing save after save from Towns keeper Luke Holt, and if it wasn’t home saving it was the Town centre backs blocking shots.

Salamis with the impressive duo of Zenon Stylianides and Taff Skandari pulling the strings and skipper Ryan Hervel and Joe Staunton holding the midfield.

Salamis went ahead when Derek Asamoah slipped the ball through to Louie Remi who hit a great left foot shot into the far corner on 27 minutes. It was what the reds deserved. 1-0.

Another flowing move found Derek Asamoah free on the right of the box, he shot and found the corner of the net on 37 minutes for 2-0.

Salamis went into half time 2-0 up.

The start of the second half saw a vibrant Town throw attack after attack, but the defence held strong, Tommy Boxer and Freddy Tandon so impressive heading and blocking everything.

In the 64th minute Town we’re awarded a soft penalty, which they scored from for 2-1.

They then hit the post to go close to equalising, before Zenon’s cross flew across the box.

The Reds ran out 2-1 winners to make it 3 wins on the bounce.

Next Match Away to Hashtag United on Monday night 7.45pm ko. Then away to Maldon & Tiptree on Saturday 19th November
