Colin Stewart, the UN Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, met on Wednesday with Mario Nava, European Commission’s Director General of the Department of Structural Reform Support.

A post on twitter by the UN in Cyprus says that Stewart and Nava had a friendly and productive meeting in support of an inclusive and mutually acceptable settlement for the island of Cyprus.

Cyprus has been divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion. Numerous peace talks under the UN aegis failed to yield results. The latest round of negotiations took place in the summer of 2017 in Crans Montana, Switzerland.
