The Dugdale Arts Centre is set to reopen this December offering a wider range of activities, entertainment and community facilities than ever before.
The Dugdale will reopen on Friday, 16 December, in time for the Christmas season with a specially commissioned production of Little Women: The Musical, the heart-warming story following four sisters dealing with poverty, sisterhood and coming-of-age.
For younger theatre lovers, Chickenshed will return with their ever popular interactive show Tales from the Shed, and there will be plenty of other pocket-friendly festive events and exhibitions for all ages.
Tickets for Little Women are already available to book on the Dugdale’s website.
Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Spaces, Cultures and Local Economy, Cllr Chinelo Anyanwu, said: “The Dugdale Arts Centre is so much more than a performance space. It is a vibrant welcome point to Enfield Town and its new incarnation will offer a huge amount to the community.
“It is a showcase for everything that is made in Enfield – from food to music, craft to theatre production, people and history. We are aware that times are tough for many people which is why Enfield’s culture team has programmed a series of events to suit all tastes and budgets.”
The Dugdale has undergone a two-year refurbishment to build on its reputation as an outstanding arts, community and entertainment centre in the heart of Enfield. The 150-seat studio theatre will continue to be used for larger performances but other areas have been reconfigured to make better use of the space so it is fully inclusive, adaptable and accessible for all.
There will be a more prominent home on the ground floor for the Enfield Museum, which will coordinate exhibitions showcasing the borough’s rich history. Watch out for the return of the legendary mammoth bones, dug up from Tatem Park and a fantastic programme of food, film and workshops connected to the prehistoric creature.
The Council’s award-winning, sustainable, locally-sourced food offer – EnFood – will continue to run the café-restaurant but will now add an evening service where you’ll be able to enjoy music or comedy as you eat on Friday and Saturday evenings.
To further support the local economy, the Made in Enfield shop will celebrate local makers from poets to potters and much more.
