Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an attempted robbery in Walthamstow left a man with facial fractures.
Shortly after 22.00hrs on Monday, 18 July, a 48-year-old man was walking along Eden Road, E17, when he was approached by a man walking towards him. The approaching man then demanded he hand over his phone and wallet.
The victim refused and was punched in the face several times. He lost consciousness and was helped to safety by some people at the scene.
Nothing was taken from him, however his facial injuries, including fractures to his eye socket, will require ongoing hospital treatment.
The suspect had left the scene before police arrived.
Detective Constable Alexandra Varga, the investigating officer, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this robbery in Eden Road.
“This was a completely unprovoked attack and the victim has suffered a number of serious head injuries. We need witnesses with information, no matter how small, to help catch the person responsible and ensure they are unable to do this again.”
